  • Thor on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#1) Thor

    • Thor: The Dark World, The Incredible Hulk Returns, Thor, Hulk Vs, Thor: Tales of Asgard, Ultimate Avengers 2, The Avengers, Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow, Marvel Universe

Thor is the son of Odin and the presumptive ruler of Asgard following his father's passing. He is the god of thunder and has been battling foes for the better part of 1,500 years. He is highly trained in combat, but his power made him arrogant, which led to a temporary exile on Earth and separation from his powers.

When he once again proved he was mighty and truly worthy of his power, he came back more powerful and level-headed than ever before. In the MCU, he's gone up against some of the most powerful villains in the MCU and walked away with little more than a missing eye and a giant gut.

He ended the original Thanos, he bested Hela, he defeated Malekith, and even withstood the intense radiation of a dying star. Thor isn't just godlike, he's a god, and his ability to channel lightning to enhance his strength is unmatched.

  • Scarlet Witch on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#2) Scarlet Witch

    • The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel Universe

Wanda Maximoff was experimented on with the energy from Loki's Scepter, which held the Mind Stone as its source of power. The Stone gave her incredible powers of both mental and physical manipulation.

Maximoff can mess with other people's minds, and did so against Tony Stark and the Hulk, which caused the latter to go on a devastating rampage. She easily took Vision out of the picture during a quick fight, and, at the time, Vision himself was powered by the Mind Stone, which was embedded in his forehead.

When she went up against Thanos, Maximoff held him at bay for long enough to destroy the Mind Stone. In the following movie, she went up against him at full power and potentially could have ended him - had the Titan not called upon his ship to break up the fight with overhead artillery.

  • Hulk on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#3) Hulk

    • The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Ultimate Avengers 2, Hulk Vs, Ultimate Avengers, Planet Hulk, The Incredible Hulk, The Death of the Incredible Hulk, The Avengers, Hulk, The Incredible Hulk Returns, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Trial of the Incredible Hulk, Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow, Marvel Universe

The Hulk is practically rage incarnate, and while he's incredibly strong under normal circumstances, he gets stronger the angrier he gets. He's able to leap great distances, he can tear apart buildings and giant monsters, and he can recover from pretty much any injury, though it's rare for him to be injured.

Hulk has fought and defeated Thor on several occasions, and he will jump into a fight whenever he sees a threat. He was more than willing to go after Surtur in Thor: Ragnarok, and there's a good chance he would have knocked that giant crown right off his head.

Hulk was the only one of the Avengers who could undo Thanos's snap and survive - though it did wither his arm in the process. This suggests that he is at least as powerful as Thanos, which is really saying something.

  • Doctor Strange on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#4) Doctor Strange

    • Dr. Strange, Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme, Marvel Universe

Dr. Stephen Strange was one of the greatest neurosurgeons in the world, but after an accident ruined his hands, he spent his entire fortune looking for a means to repair them. After trying everything he could, he opted to journey to Kamar-Taj to find the Ancient One.

He witnessed the great power the Ancient One controlled, which spurred him to beg for training in the mystic arts. He took to magic easily after a short time and expanded his knowledge exponentially. He went up against Kaecilius before he fully understood what he could do, and learned a lesson in acting strategically.

He defeated Dormammu, an extra-dimensional being intent on conquering all of reality, and helped stop Thanos. He's the most powerful sorcerer in the Marvel Universe, and one of the most powerful people seen in the movies.

  • Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#5) Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)

    • The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Marvel Universe

When Carol Danvers was bathed in the radiation of the Tesseract, which held the Space Stone at its core, she was given great and incredible powers. Initially, she was inhibited by a chip in her neck, but after burning it out, she went from being powerful to almost godlike.

Her power set is pretty long, but from what has been shown in the films, she can fly through interstellar space (possibly in excess of the speed of light), she can fire off powerful blasts of energy, she's either immortal or ages slowly, and she's pretty much invincible.

When she went up against Thanos while he was wearing the Infinity Gauntlet, his blows didn't even muss her hair. The only way he was able to beat her was to pull out the Power Stone, which gave him the energy boost he needed to punch her across the battlefield.

Had he failed to grab the stone, the Titan wouldn't have been able to do anything to her. She's just that powerful.

  • Vision on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#6) Vision

    • The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow, Marvel Universe

Vision was initially created as an upgraded body for Ultron, but with some manipulation by the Avengers - and Thor's lightning - the android arose as a new, separate being. He is the combined intelligence of JARVIS, Ultron, and the Mind Stone, which is embedded in his forehead and makes him incredibly powerful.

He is able to fly and phase through matter, he can fire off a powerful blast of energy from the Mind Stone, and he possesses superhuman strength and durability. In addition to becoming intangible, he can alter his density to become far more massive than a being his size could be.

Vision was the power needed to ultimately take down Ultron, and had he gone up against Thanos, he likely would have stood his ground via his density manipulation alone.

  • Ancient One on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#7) Ancient One

    • Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme, Marvel Universe

The Ancient One is the former Sorcerer Supreme of Earth and leader of the Masters of the Mystic Arts. She initiated the training that transformed Dr. Stephen Strange into the powerful sorcerer that would ultimately replace her.

Though she didn't have much screen time in the MCU, she was shown to be ridiculously powerful. She could create weapons and force fields out of her hands, she could alter reality to suit her will, and she could easily manipulate her enemies to do what she needed in order to beat them.

She willingly gave the Time Stone to Bruce Banner after knocking the good scientist's astral form from the Hulk's physical body. She understood the nature of the Multiverse, time travel, and pretty much every other aspect of importance in the MCU. During her lifetime, she was unquestionably the most powerful sorcerer on Earth.

  • Captain America on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#8) Captain America

    • The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Ultimate Avengers, Captain America, Ultimate Avengers 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Captain America II: Death Too Soon, Captain America, 3 Dev Adam, Marvel Universe

Steve Rogers was a 90-pound weakling at the start of WWII, but that didn't stop him from attempting to enlist. He was given a chance after multiple attempts, but only through a special program aimed at developing a Super Soldier capable of going up against the worst the Third Reich had to offer.

After the transformation was complete, Rogers was enhanced in every possible way, with peak human strength, speed, and stamina. He was also trained in combat and military tactics, which made him the greatest fighter in the US arsenal.

Captain America was lost during WWII and returned in modern times to become a leader of the Avengers. He went up against Loki and his alien army, Ultron, and Thanos. He went so far as to fight Thanos on his own, and even after getting knocked down, he refused to give up, saying a line that became his catchphrase: "I can do this all day."

Fortunately, he was backed up by an army of allies from across space and time. They all rallied behind Captain America as he took the fight to Thanos once more with the rallying cry, "Avengers, Assemble!"

  • Iron Man on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#9) Iron Man

    • Iron Man: Armored Adventures, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, The Super Hero Squad Show, The Incredible Hulk, Ultimate Avengers, Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow, Iron Man 3, Iron Man, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Avengers, Iron Man 2, Planet Hulk, The Invincible Iron Man, Ultimate Avengers 2, Marvel Universe

Tony Stark was an unapologetic arms dealer until his friend and mentor conspired to have him terminated. Instead of building a weapon system for his captors, he used the tools and materials on hand to create a powerful suit of armor, which he used to escape.

Upon returning to the world, he gave up his arms business and devoted all of his energy into more humanitarian interests. On the side, he created a far more powerful suit of armor to replace the one he used to escape, and over the next few years, he continued to build newer and better armor to fight a wide range of enemies as Iron Man.

He went up against Thanos and was initially defeated, yet he survived the encounter and doubled-down on his efforts to take down the Mad Titan. When that was done, he settled into a relatively normal lifestyle until his allies in the Avengers returned and asked for his help in making time travel possible. He not only discovered the secrets of time travel but also managed to defeat Thanos, get his hands on all of the Infinity Stones, and snapped his fingers at the cost of his own life.

His last act was to stop Thanos and all of his allies, completely and utterly removing them from existence.

  • Groot on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#10) Groot

    • Guardians of the Galaxy

Groot is part of an alien species known as Flora Colossus, and was introduced into the MCU as the traveling companion and accomplice of Rocket Raccoon. He was instrumental in taking apart Ronan the Accuser's forces, and later, he sacrificed himself to ensure the safety of his friends.

Fortunately, that wasn't the end of Groot - or at least the end of his family line. A sapling was recovered from his remains and later grew into Baby Groot. Though he was tiny, he managed to take on several Ravagers who followed Taserface's mutiny, and later delivered the detonation device to the core of Ego, resulting in the Celestial's demise.

As a teenager, Groot lazily went along with his allies as they armed themselves to fight Thanos. He was constantly playing a handheld video game, but when he was needed, he used his own arm to create the handle for Stormbreaker, a powerful new ax wielded by Thor. He then fought against Thor's forces, and after he was returned following the Snap, he continued the fight during the Battle of Earth, which ultimately saw the defeat of Thanos and his forces.

  • Spider-Man on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#11) Spider-Man

    • Daredevil vs. Spider-Man, Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man 3, Spider-Man 2, The Green Goblin's Last Stand, 3 Dev Adam, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Marvel Universe

Peter Parker was just your run-of-the-mill average genius high school dweeb until an irradiated spider bit him on a field trip. From that point forward, he was everybody's Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man - and the protégé of Tony Stark.

Through Stark, Spider-Man became an Avenger, and during his time in the MCU, he's managed to go up against the Vulture and Mysterio. He's incredibly powerful for someone so small, and has a set of interesting powers and gadgets he uses to fight his enemies.

Spider-Man can lift around 20 tons, cling to pretty much any surface, and has a "Peter Tingle" that lets him detect harm before it comes his way. He uses this power to avoid gunfire, and ultimately, to defeat Mysterio when he throws his various visual attacks at him.

In addition to his powers, he has a Stark Tech suit and web-shooters capable of firing off dozens of webbing configurations.

  • Black Panther on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#12) Black Panther

    • The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Black Panther, Ultimate Avengers 2, Marvel Universe

T'Challa is the King of Wakanda, a title he earned through succession and combat. He is also the holder of the Black Panther mantle, a role that has been the responsibility of the King of Wakanda for generations. As Black Panther, T'Challa has a number of powers and technologies that make him far deadlier than your average monarch.

To become the Black Panther, he had to undergo a trial that involves the consumption of the Heart-Shaped Herb. Consuming the herb significantly enhances his human abilities into superhuman strength, agility, and stamina - in much the same way the Super Soldier Serum empowers Captain America.

Black Panther also has the technology his sister, Shuri, creates to help him fight. His suit is made entirely of Vibranium, a nearly indestructible metal that absorbs kinetic energy. When he builds up enough energy, he can release it in a devastating blow. Additionally, T'Challa is a highly skilled hand-to-hand combatant and can go up against any number of enemies just as easily as he can fight one-on-one.

  • The Winter Soldier on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#13) The Winter Soldier

    • Captain America: The Winter Soldier

James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes is the childhood best friend of Steve Rogers, and unlike Rogers, he had no problem joining the Army during WWII. When Rogers became Captain America, he saved Bucky after he and his unit were taken prisoner by Hydra.

Sadly, Bucky was lost on a mission, but he turned up decades later as the "Winter Soldier." He was an assassin created by the USSR and was responsible for taking out important people over a period of seven decades. His left arm was replaced with a powerful cybernetic prosthetic, and he had his memory wiped, making him a dangerous villain.

Fortunately, he didn't remain a villain for long after meeting up with his pal Steve. Bucky was the catalyst that divided Captain America and Iron Man, but eventually, he became an Avenger who stood in battle beside the rest of the superpowered folk to fight Thanos and his army.

  • Wong on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#14) Wong

    • Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme, Dr. Strange, Marvel Universe

Wong is a member of the Masters of the Mystic Arts and was trained at Kamar-Taj. He took on the role of the librarian when the former holder of that position was slain by Kaecilius and his Zealots. He is devoted to the protection of the knowledge contained in the ancient books, and through his years of training, he has become one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world.

He stood up to Kaecilius and his Zealots alongside the other Masters of the Mystic Arts, including Doctor Strange. He continued to work alongside Strange when he became the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth following the demise of the Ancient One.

Wong later stood alongside Iron Man and Strange when the Black Order came to Earth to take the Time Stone. During the final fight against Thanos, he was one of the sorcerers who teleported a massive army of allies from across the world to fight against the Mad Titan.

  • Gamora on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#15) Gamora

    • Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Universe

Gamora was the favored "daughter" of Thanos and one of the only members of her species he spared and showed any favor towards. He raised Gamora from childhood to become the deadliest woman in the galaxy, and that's a title she earned through decades of combat.

She defied her "father" and joined forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy to stop Ronan the Accuser from wiping out Xandar. She later helped as a member of the Guardians in stopping Ego. Throughout these fights, she went up against her "sister" Nebula, ultimately convincing her to join the side of good alongside her.

Gamora was instrumental in fighting against Thanos, as she uniquely held knowledge needed in going up against the Mad Titan. Sadly, she was sacrificed by Thanos so he could obtain the Soul Gem, but thanks to some time travel shenanigans, another version of her returned and fought against him at the Battle of Earth, which ultimately saw Thanos and his forces defeated.

  • Drax the Destroyer on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#16) Drax the Destroyer

    • Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Universe

Drax the Destroyer was an intergalactic criminal before joining up with Rocket, Groot, Gamora, and Star-Lord to become the Guardians of the Galaxy. Drax swore vengeance upon the man who took away his family, so he allied himself with the Guardians to take down Ronan the Accuser.

When that task was done, he opted to continue his fight by targeting the man who was responsible for unleashing Ronan against his family: Thanos. Before he could do that, he and the rest of the Guardians were brought to Ego, a Celestial who was himself an entire planet. When Ego's true purpose was revealed, Drax helped to defeat him.

When the Guardians had the chance to go up against the Mad Titan, Drax happily went along to fight against Thanos and his army. He fought well and was one of the main combatants responsible for defeating the Mad Titan, alongside the Avengers and everyone else amassed to take him down at the Battle of Earth.

  • Ant-Man on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#17) Ant-Man

    • Ant-Man

Scott Lang was a brilliant burglar who was recruited by Hank Pym to take over as the new Ant-Man. After some trouble filling his shoes, Scott took to the role well and defeated Yellowjacket, which kept Pym Particles from being sold to Hydra.

He then went up against Ghost, who was less of a villain and more of a conflicted person doing desperate things to survive. Lang also joined forces with Captain America to fight during the Superhero Civil War, which gave him the opportunity to try out his new Giant-Man persona.

Later, he got trapped in the Negative Zone, and when he emerged, five years had passed, and half of all life was gone. He joined up with the remnants of the Avengers and was instrumental in delivering the technology needed to make time travel possible. Through this, Lang helped defeat Thanos for good.

  • Black Widow on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#18) Black Widow

    • Ultimate Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Avengers, Ultimate Avengers 2, Iron Man 2, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel Universe

Natalia Alianovna "Natasha" Romanoff was trained by the USSR as a KGB operative codenamed Black Widow before she joined forces with the USA. She worked as a covert operative for SHIELD for years and was brought into the Avengers Initiative to keep tabs on Tony Stark and to provide her unique combat skills to the team.

Despite having no superpowers, she stood up against the Chitauri, Ultron, and many more enemies as a member of the Avengers. She fought against Thanos and his army at the Battle of Wakanda, and was one of the Avengers who traveled back in time to recover an Infinity Stone.

She ultimately sacrificed her life so that her ally, Clint Barton, otherwise known as Hawkeye, could retrieve the Soul Stone and carry on the fight.

  • Star-Lord on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#19) Star-Lord

    • Guardians of the Galaxy

Peter Jason Quill was abducted from Earth following the passing of his mother. He was raised by his abductors to become a member of the Ravagers, a group of interstellar outlaws and bounty hunters. He took the name Star-Lord, and a job to recover an artifact that turned out to be the Power Stone.

This brought him into an alliance with Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and Drax to become the Guardians of the Galaxy. He and his allies fought against Ronan the Accuser, and Star-Lord managed to defeat him by taking hold of the Power Stone with his allies. He wouldn't have survived that had he not been a human/celestial hybrid, which he found out when he met his father, Ego.

Ego was a Celestial, and he showed Peter how to tap into his power, but it turned out he wanted to use his son to wipe out countless worlds. Peter fought against his father and defeated him. He later went up against Thanos several times, and nearly defeated him, but he was culled with the Snap.

When he returned five years later, he kept the fight going, and went after Thanos and his legion at the Battle of Earth. When Thanos and his forces were defeated, he, Thor, and the other Guardians went off into space to find Gamora.

  • War Machine on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#20) War Machine

    • The Invincible Iron Man, Iron Man, Iron Man 3, Iron Man 2, Marvel Universe

Colonel James Rupert "Rhodey" Rhodes entered the MCU as Tony Stark's closest friend and liaison for the United States military. As Stark developed his Iron Man suit, he had more than one hanging around, so under orders from the government, Rhodey took one to be outfitted with the best armaments Justin Hammer could provide.

Rhodey became War Machine, a slightly more weapons-forward version of Iron Man, but unlike Stark, Rhodey is a pilot and military officer. This makes his training and experience far superior to that of his friend. With the addition of the suit, he's a flying tank capable of holding off hordes of enemies.

War Machine possesses some of the same tech as Iron Man, which includes flight, super-strength, an advanced AI control for his suit, and repulsors. In addition to these gadgets, he possesses numerous missiles and cannons capable of combating conventional and unconventional enemies.

  • Hawkeye on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#21) Hawkeye

    • The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Thor, The Avengers

Clinton Francis "Clint" Barton is a highly skilled operative and former member of SHIELD, codenamed Hawkeye. He is highly capable with all forms of weaponry but favors the bow in most situations. He fought against the Chuitari invasion during the Battle of New York and managed to use various types of arrowheads to wipe out vehicles and stop the invaders.

He used these skills again when Ultron manifested and became a threat to the people of Sokovia. He even commented that it was nuts to be fighting against a robot army with a bow, but that didn't keep him from completing his mission.

He later fought alongside his fellow Avengers during the Battle of Wakanda and helped to stop Thanos's forces. During the Battle of Earth, he stood against Thanos and his legion, helping to eliminate as many invaders as possible and stand victorious among his allies.

  • Wasp on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#22) Wasp

    • The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Ultimate Avengers, Ultimate Avengers 2, Marvel Universe

Hope van Dyne trained to take on the role of Ant-Man after her father, but he was unwilling to risk his daughter in the suit. Instead, he chose Scott Lang, and after he proved himself a capable superhero, Hope was given a suit of her own to become the Wasp.

As the Wasp, Hope has the same shrinking technology Ant-Man uses to diminish her size. She has years of combat training, which makes her far more capable in a fight than her partner, and she can fly and shoot off bolts of energy.

Hope helped Scott on several occasions, and she helped to train him, but she does have a far better suit, seeing as she can fly and has combat tech built into it. She was culled from existence with Thanos's snap, but she returned and fought alongside the rest of the Avengers to defeat Thanos at the Battle of Earth.

  • Okoye on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#23) Okoye

    • Black Panther

Okoye is the general in command of the Dora Milaje and the head of all Wakandan armed forces. She is also one of T'Challa's closest allies and one of the greatest melee fighters on the planet. She uses her incredible skills at hand-to-hand combat alongside her various vibranium gadgets and weapons to stand beside giants.

She's not a costumed superhero, but she's a superhero nonetheless. She joined T'Challa in his fight to regain control of Wakanda from Killmonger, and she stood her ground against her husband, who opposed T'Challa.

She was the commander of the Wakandan forces during the Battle of Wakanda against Thanos, and she returned once more during the Battle of Earth at the ruined Avengers compound. She showed her skills in combat against members of the Black Order, and while she's a human without any superhero abilities, she's deadlier than most other humans on the planet.

  • Shuri on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#24) Shuri

Shuri is the younger sister of T'Challa and the principal mastermind of all the Vibranium technology in Wakanda. She is smarter than Tony Stark, and like Stark, she uses her brilliant intellect to create devices capable of amazing things.

In addition to weaponry and suits like the one she created for her brother, she came up with the shield technology that kept Thanos's forces at bay, the holographic disguise that completely hides Wakanda from the rest of the world, and panther-shaped gauntlets capable of firing off energy blasts.

Like her brother, she is also well-trained in hand-to-hand combat and stands next in line to become the Queen of Wakanda and the Black Panther, should her brother ever fall. She's smart, she's funny, and her tech makes her one of the most capable characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

  • Sam Wilson (Falcon) on Random Strongest Superheroes In MCU

    (#25) Sam Wilson (Falcon)

    • Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Marvel Universe

Samuel Thomas "Sam" Wilson was an Air Force pararescue airman who left active duty after his wingman was lost in combat. He chose to help other veterans via a support group for people suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. He met Captain America while they were both training and the two became fast friends.

Eventually, they became allies, and Sam strapped on a pair of advanced flight technology in the form of wings and a jetpack. He took the name Falcon and became a member of the Avengers. As a member of the team, Falcon has been involved in many fights, and his aerial acrobatics and military training make him a formidable combatant.

He was on the ground fighting against Thanos and his army at the Battle of Wakanda, and joined Captain America during the pivotal Battle of Earth, which ultimately saw the defeat of Thanos and his army. When all was said and done, Steve Rogers chose Wilson to become his successor, the new Captain America.
