But there’s a surprising hack you can try to will cut down drying time and keep your bedding plush. Throw some clean tennis balls in with the comforter to keep it nice and fluffy. The same goes for pillows and winter coats. Just don't reuse the ones the dog's been fetching — it kind of defeats the purpose of the hack.

(#4) Throw Some Aluminum Foil In Your Dryer For Static-Free Clothes
This is the cheapest dryer-sheet alternative out there. It won’t add an extra bit of fresh scent to your clothes, but it will remove static. Just crumple a bit of aluminum foil into a ball and throw it in the dryer. The same ball will work for up to six months.

(#5) Toss In A Towel To Make Everything Dry Faster
Sometimes you need a large load of laundry to dry fast. The best way to do this is to throw a fluffy dry towel in with your dryer load. After all, towels are meant to absorb moisture, and they will absorb the excess moisture from the rest of the wet clothes. But, make sure to take the towel out about 20 minutes into the cycle. Otherwise, as Household Hacker puts it, the towel will continue adding dampness to the dryer and creating even more work to do.

Individual socks always end up in a black hole somewhere, the same black hole that sucks up all your bobby pins and workable pens. But, you never need to have a lonely sock again with this hack. Just place all the socks in a mesh laundry or lingerie bag and throw them in the wash together. They’ll never get separated.

(#7) Get Those Wrinkles Out With A Little Ice
This is good hack for just some items you need unwrinkled fast. Throw in a few ice cubes with a handful of light wrinkled items, like shirts or cotton dresses, and tumble them around on the highest heat setting. The steam from the cubes will level out the creases in your clothes. Don’t expect everything to be pressed and starched when you take it out, but it will be unwrinkled to the point of looking presentable. No iron or ironing board needed!

(#8) Get Out Grass Stains With Two Products You'll Find Around Your House
Grass stains are common, especially if you’ve got kids. The best solution to getting that stain out involves mixing about 1 TBS. of dish soap with 2 TBS. of hydrogen peroxide in small bowl. Then dampen the stain with lukewarm water and apply the solution. Let it sink in for 15 minutes, rinse, and then throw it in with the rest of the wash.

(#9) Save Time Before The Wash By Pre-Sorting Clothes
If you’ve got the space, you can save time sorting your clothes before the wash. Just get three or four cheap foldable laundry baskets for each type of wash: whites, darks, permanent press, and for heavier items like pants and sweatshirts.

(#10) Honey, I Shrunk The Clothes (But It's OK — Here's A Solution)
Sometimes you make laundry faux pas that result in your favorite tee shrinking back to the size of your preschool-aged Barney shirt. You can undo the damage by letting the article of clothing soak in a vat of lukewarm water mixed with conditioner for about 15 minutes. This supposedly helps loosen up the fibers. You might need to do a little stretching and tugging while the shirt is still soaked in conditioner, but don't stretch too hard. And maybe don't throw it in the dryer next time you wash it.

(#11) Make Your Own Reusable Clean-Smelling Dryer Sheets
If you're constantly doing large loads of laundry, you can run out of dryer sheets quickly. They also have the potential to be environmentally unfriendly — loaded with heat-activated toxins, scents, and chemicals that, if they don't kill you, will at least send your allergies soaring.
But you can make your own reusable dryer sheets that will last for a crazy long time. All you need is a pack of sponges, an old Tupperware container and a big bottle of fabric softener (the liquid version of dryer sheets). Mix equal parts fabric softener and water into the container. Cut the sponges in half and soak them in the solution. Then when your load is washed, wring out the excess solution from the sponge and throw it in the dryer with your clothes. It may sound like a little extra effort now, but those sponges will outlast a box of dryer sheets, easily!
