  • (#18) Samuel L. Jackson's 'Fuh' Bomb

Anyone familiar with Samuel L. Jackson at all knows the man possesses a penchant for swearing in the most amazing fashion. Yet, since NBC airs to the public, swearing is a big no-no. Just ask Jenny Slate. When Jackson came dangerously close to completing an entire "fuh(ck)," Kenan Thompson hilariously and rightfully noted, "Come on, Sam, that costs money!"

While Jackson insists he never said the full word, he still came closer to doing so than most anyone else who's ever been on SNL.

  • (#13) Nirvana Makes Out

As is SNL tradition, during the closing credits, the cast and crew all mingle, say hello, and give their thanks and congratulations to one another. When Nirvana was on the show they decided to spice it up, grabbing one another for a few rounds of tonsil hockey.

NBC aired the credits sequence from rehearsals during all re-runs of the episode.

  • (#5) Ashlee Simpson's Lip Sync

In one of the most awkward videos to come out of network television (which is saying a lot), Ashlee Simpson could NOT have been caught more red-handed than in this "live" performance of "Pieces of Me."

The band starts. Simpson dances about and before she can even start to sing she's somehow... singing. Impressive. The band then tries to cover it by playing louder but her voice echoes awkwardly through the studio while she hops around. Finally the embarrassment is too much and she runs off.

Her reason for lip syncing live on SNL? Acid reflux.

  • (#9) Barbra Streisand On 'Coffee Talk'

One of Mike Myers's best SNL characters was Linda Richman, who hosted "Coffee Talk," a recurring sketch in which Richman cartoonishly talked about current events. In addition to the current events chatter and individualized bits, each episode ALWAYS mentioned Barbra Streisand.

Then one day, with Madonna and Roseanne Barr on as guests, Babs showed up... unbeknownst to anyone in the cast or audience. It was awesome. All three women on "Coffee Talk" just stared, stunned. She waved and left.

  • (#11) When Rosetta Stone Was Used To Make Fun Of Thailand

A sketch with so much potential, SNL's Rosetta Stone parody took things too far when addressing why Rosetta customers would use the program to learn Thai. It became a montage of creepy white dudes talking about visiting Thailand for "a thing." The "thing" in question was largely understood as a reference to the country's sex trade, with the suggested Rosetta phrases being "How much?" or "Is that for the whole night?"

As a result of the sketch, the Thai minister of culture publicly called for its removal from the internet.

  • (#6) Martin Lawrence Almost Gets Everyone Fired

During Martin Lawrence's opening monologue, he went off script, complaining that the producers were trying to censor him and cut some of his jokes. He then proceeded to discuss all manner of things that NBC definitely wasn't comfortable airing on national television.

Re-runs of the episode featured an alternate edit and Lawrence was never asked back.

It's nearly impossible to hunt down the original clip. So enjoy some Martin Lawrence stand-up and pray that someday the clip surfaces.
