The Roosevelt Hotel played host to stars like Marilyn Monroe and Montgomery Clift, who are said to still reside there. Monroe can supposedly be found in Suite 1200, and visitors to the Roosevelt claim they've heard Clift practicing the trumpet outside of Room 928 when he's not pacing the hallways.

Initially built as a "health resort," the hotel was purchased by Norman Baker, who painted the entire building lavender and purple before reopening the hotel as a sanitarium. Baker claimed he could cure cancer, but he only took in patients with no family and had them sign undated letters stating they were cured. Baker's work involved drilling holes in the heads of his patients before pumping their brains full of a mixture of spring water, corn silk, carbolic acid, and ground-up watermelon seeds. The sight of his house of horrors is now a hotel where visitors claim to see doctors and nurses roaming the halls. Supposedly, Room 218 features the most paranormal activity, so make sure to avoid it if you're looking for a relaxing stay.
