(#8) A 19-Year-Old Crashed Through A Family’s Window

19-year-old Nico Gallo of Stuart, Florida, got high on flakka and then flipped out on his innocent neighbors. He tried kicking in their front door and when that didn’t work, he “cannon-balled” himself through the plate-glass front window. Since flakka makes both physical pain and mental sanity nonexistent, Gallo was able to get up, dust the glass shards off, and attack the woman who lived there and her son without missing a beat.

Luckily, Gallo was distracted with the son long enough for the woman to grab a metal baseball bat to beat him in the head and subdue him until the police showed up to cart him off.
(#1) Flakka May Have Turned A Miami Man Into A Face-Eating Cannibal

On May 26, 2012, a 31-year-old homeless man named Rudy Eugene was discovered chowing down on another man’s face in broad daylight. The target, named Ronald Poppo, had much of his face chewed off (including his eyebrows, his nose, parts of his forehead and cheek, and his left eye) before police ordered Eugene to stop. Eugene just growled at the officers, who were forced to fire on him four times before he finally went down. One witness described the gruesome scene to ABC News: "The forehead was just bone, no nose, no mouth."

Investigators claimed Eugene's behavior was consistent with bath salt use, but initial toxicology reports found only cannabis in his system. However, many experts continue to believe he was on a related bath salts-type substance, and say that municipal toxicology labs are not yet equipped to test for many new, synthetic substances.
(#9) This Man Impaled Himself On A Police Department Fence While On Flakka

In March 2015, Shanard Neely of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, told police that he’d smoked flakka, then made a mad dash for the fence surrounding the police department. Surveillance video captured Neely’s attempt to scale the 10-foot spiked fence, which ended with him falling on one of the spikes, impaling himself. The spike went straight through his thigh up near his groin and came out the other side of his buttocks.

Neely was stuck dangling there for 20 minutes while a fire rescue team cut away the fence and transported him to Broward Health Medical Center to have the spike surgically removed and stop the bleeding. He survived the procedure (miraculously enough) but was held for psychological evaluations.
(#3) Flakka Made A Man Think He Was God

Not only did Kenneth Crowder of Melbourne, Florida, get high on flakka and proudly declare himself the god Thor, but he also tried to have relations with a tree, attacked a cop, and was seen running unclothed through the streets. The police officer on the scene tried tasing him, but Crowder plucked the electric probes from his body and started beating the officer.

Crowder then took the cop’s own badge from him and tried to pierce him with it. The officer was finally able to subdue him and get him in cuffs.
(#5) A Bad Bath Salts Trip Drove A Young Man To Take His Own Life

In November 2010, 21-year-old Dickie Sanders snorted a pack of bath salts and, in his substance-induced paranoia, became convinced the police were after him. He grabbed a butcher knife and slit his own throat. "I just want this stuff out of me,'' he told his father over and over. Sanders didn’t slice through any major arteries and his family was able to stop the bleeding.

But as Sanders continued to trip over the next several hours, he became increasingly erratic, eventually taking his own life with a rifle.
(#4) Bath Salts Led To A Tragic Event For One Washington Family

In April 2011, Army Sgt. David Stewart and his wife Kristy were caught speeding on the interstate in Spanaway, Washington, by a Washington State Patrol trooper. The trooper chased after the pair. During the chase, Stewart fired at his wife and then crashed his car. Stewart then fired on himself before he could be apprehended. Their 5-year-old son Jordan was later found deceased in their home - it is presumed he was ended by one or both of his parents.

Toxicology tests confirmed that both Stewart and his wife had bath salts in their systems. More packets of bath salts were found in their house, in their car, and on Stewart's person.
