(#12) Map Room
What went down in here: FDR used to use it as a situation room, where he referenced maps to track the progress of WWII.
Notable events: Bill Clinton testified under oath about the Monica Lewinsky scandal; Obama met the Dalai Lama.
This room no longer needed to serve as an actual map room once the Situation Room was created by President Kennedy, so now it's used for whatever purpose the president chooses.

(#3) East Room
What goes down in here: Press conferences, dances, and banquets. This is the largest room in the White House and the one best-suited for an audience.
Notable events: Many presidents' funerals have been held here, including Kennedy's. President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act here.

(#14) Diplomatic Reception Room
What goes down in here: Official ceremonies where ambassadors present their credentials.
Where you've seen it in movies/TV: Obama was interviewed in the Diplomatic Reception Room on "Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis."

(#7) Blue Room
What goes down in here: Receptions, receiving guests, occasionally small dinners.
Notable events: Grover Cleveland's wedding, the only presidential wedding ever to take place in the White House. -
(#9) The Oval Office
What goes down in here: The president works, makes phone calls, has meetings, entertains guests, and occasionally gives televised addresses.
Notable events: JFK announced news of the Cuban Missile Crisis; Richard Nixon announced his resignation; and George W. Bush addressed the country after the September 11 terrorist attacks.
Where you've seen it in movies/TV: House of Cards, The West Wing, Veep, 24, Selma, Frost/Nixon, W. -
(#4) The Treaty Room
What goes down in here: The president uses it as a working space.
Notable events: William McKinley signed the peace treaty that ended the Spanish-American War in this room, while JFK used it to sign the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.
This room is currently a private presidential study, but it's had many uses over the years. When James Garfield was shot, this room was turned into a sick room with several rudimentary air conditioning machines to try to keep the president comfortable.
