  • Some See-Through Frogs on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#1) Some See-Through Frogs

If a three-headed frog isn't solid enough proof of the effects of environmental pollution, maybe these transparent frogs are. Russian scientists blame environmental pollution for the mutant transparency of several frogs captured in central Russia. Their organs, skeletons, and even their beating hearts are blatantly visible through their skin. Some of them even have extra growths or limbs.

Vladimir Vershinin, head of zoology at the Ural Federal District University's Institute of Natural Sciences, added about the situation: "Frog eggs do not have their own membrane to protect them from a polluted environment."

  • A Two-Faced Cat on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#2) A Two-Faced Cat

Meet Frank and Louie, the longest living Janus cat on record. "Janus" refers to the Roman God depicted with two faces, and the condition contributed to the formation of two faces is known as diprosopia. This condition caused Frank and Louie to have three eyes, two noses, two mouths, and one brain.

Typically, Janus cats die shortly after birth. However, Frank and Louie lived to be 15 years old and even procured their own Guinness World Record in 2006.

  • A Duck Born With Four Legs on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

(#3) A Duck Born With Four Legs

Stumpy was born at the Warrawee Duck Farm in the United Kingdom. He seemed to absolutely "stump" his owner Nicky Janaway, so much so after his birth she had to keep recounting his four legs. Initially, Stumpy ran around on two of his legs while the extra ones dangled behind.

Over time, one of Stumpy's legs got stuck in a fence and had to be removed. His last extra leg eventually turned black and fell off - leaving him with tiny stumps behind his two functioning, normal legs.

  • A One-Footed Snake on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#4) A One-Footed Snake

This one-footed snake was found scaling the wall of a woman's bedroom in Southwest China. Dean Qiongxiu, 66, claims the reptile was "working its way along the wall using his claw." She then beat the snake to death with a shoe before putting the body in a bottle of alcohol to preserve it. The 16-inch long snake was studied at China's West Normal University.

The most common snake mutation is the growth of a second head, but they tend to have little change of surviving in the wild, since the heads usually attack each other.

  • A Two-Headed Pig on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#5) A Two-Headed Pig

Rudy, the two-headed pig, was born on a farm in Iowa in 1997. While most two-headed pigs are stillborn or die soon after birth, Rudy was sold to "Pigs Without Partners" once he was about nine-months-old. The Los Angeles animal rescue bought Rudy for $5,000 and renamed him "Ditto." Ditto wore a helmet to protect his head, as a neurological disorder caused him to continuously fall over.

A few months after his relocation, Ditto died in his sleep. His remains were used to aid in the research of facial deformities in children.

  • A Three-Headed Frog on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#6) A Three-Headed Frog

Froggy, a six-legged, three-headed frog, was found in the garden of the Green Umbrella nursery. It was named by the three- and four-year-olds of the nursery. The staff managed to place it in a tank, but by the time the news got around, Froggy had escaped.

Tim Halliday, a biology professor at Open University, says that the mutation could be contributed to genetic defect or parasites. He even goes as far as to speculate the effects of pollution on the frog's horomones.

  • A Trunk-Nosed Puppy on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#7) A Trunk-Nosed Puppy

Eduardo Landin, 35, of Argentina got a big surprise when his dog gave birth to a litter of 11 puppies. One of the pups was deformed, with a trunk instead of a nose. The look of the deformity has been compared to Dobby, the house elf from the Harry Potter series. Some say that pesticides used on farmland in the area are to blame.

Landin received calls from people saying the puppy is evil and urging him to kill it, but he states, "it is a mutation, but it isn't evil."

  • A Cyclops Kitten on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#8) A Cyclops Kitten

A Bengal kitten born in 2012 left everyone in a veterinarian operating room speechless. The mother had been experiencing difficulties giving birth, but no one expected the second kitten of the litter to be so phenomenally deformed. The kitten, named Cleyed, was born with a rare deformity that left him with one large eye and no nose. He died soon after birth.

Follow up posts on the viral YouTube video from the owners state that Cleyed did not suffer, and that even attempting to keep him alive would have been inhumane.

  • A Albino Cyclops Shark on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#9) A Albino Cyclops Shark

If you thought a one-eyed kitten was eerie, take a look at this one-eyed shark fetus. It was found in the belly of a pregnant shark, which was caught by a commercial fishing crew off of the coast of Baja California Sur, Mexico. Not only does it have only one eye, it is also albino. According to scientists, this shark is the result of the forebrain failing to split into two separate hemispheres during development. Because of this, only one optic lobe formed, which led to a single eye.

Less than 50 examples of similar abnormalities in have been recorded.

  • The Octo-Goat on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#10) The Octo-Goat

A goat with eight legs, rightfully deemed Octo-Goat, was born on a farm in northeast Croatia. Zoran Paparic's goat Sarka birthed the leggy kid, along with its two healthy siblings. Aside from having eight legs, Octo-Goat was also born with male and female reproductive organs.

Because of this, local veterinarian's speculate that the goat's extra legs are due to the absorption of an underdeveloped twin sibling.

  • A Hexa-Pus on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#11) A Hexa-Pus

While an eight-legged goat is pretty bizarre, a six-legged octopus may be even more so. That's probably Henry's keepers at the Blackpool Sea Life Centre call him a hexapus, instead of octopus.

Henry was born this way, with his deformities a result of a genetic defect instead of an accident. He was found in a lobster pot off the coast of Wales, and his deficiency was not recognized at Blackpool for quite some time.

Henry is believed to be the first known six-legged organism of his kind.

Found two weeks ago in a lobster-pot off the coast of north Wales, Henry was one of eight "lesser octopuses" that Sea Life took delivery of from Anglesey Sea Zoo.

  • An Earless Bunny on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#12) An Earless Bunny

A viral video of a bunny near Japan's Fukushima power plant incited speculation about the effects of radioactive contamination. The bunny, born without any ears, grazed amongst other rabbits right outside the 30km exclusion zone of the nuclear power station. The bunny may be evidence of contamination, or it could just be the victim of a random birth defect. Either way, experts are skeptical about the link between the two.

Rabbits born without ears are rare, but the deformity is possible through genetic defect or from the mother biting off the ears while in distress.

  • A "Winged" Cat on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#13) A "Winged" Cat

During an extended period of hot weather in the Sichuan province of China, many cats developed wing-like growths. Feng, one local cat owner, said her cat's deformities were the result of stress. Apparently, the growths began as two small lumps that soon formed two "wings." The wings, which contain bones, are not known to hinder quality of life.

Genetic experts claim that these wings may form from poor grooming, genetic defects, or skin conditions.

  • A Dolphin With Hind "Legs" on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

(#14) A Dolphin With Hind "Legs"

Japanese fishermen caught a bottlenose dolphin and were shocked at what they discovered.  So shocked they quickly alerted the Taiji Whaling Museum. The dolphin had an extra set of fins nearest to its tail, resembling hind legs. While this isn't necessarily unusual, it is rare to witness the deformity present itself symmetrically.

Japanese researchers hope the discovery can shed more light on the theory of ocean-dwelling mammals once living on land. Scientists believe dolphins and whales were once four-footed land animals whose hind limbs disappeared after adapting to an aquatic lifestyle.

  • A Tri-Horned Cow on Random Animals Born With Most Bizarre Mutations You'll Ever See

    (#15) A Tri-Horned Cow

A cow with three horns has milked its fame in China's Hebei province. The cow has two horns on the side of its head alongside the large horn in the middle of its forehead, which should constitute it as a "tri-corn," if anything. However, it has lovingly been referred to as "unicorn cow." The middle horn measures to be about eight inches long.

The farmer, Jia Kebing, noticed a small bump on the cow's forehead years before its full growth, but didn't anticipate the outcome.
