  How It Changes The Main Character: In the theatrically released Superman II, Superman depowers Zod, Ursa, and Non, and then throws them into an icy pit. They are never seen again, leading the audience to assume they perish. This scene reveals Superman just puts them out of commission, then turns them over to the authorities. Superman isn't a slayer, and his wholesome reputation remains spotless.

  Perhaps more intriguing, however, is what else the scene establishes. First, that the North Pole has a police force, and second, that Superman's secret base isn't that big of a secret.

  Deleted Scene: Before the Dursleys leave Privet Drive, Harry has a moment with each of the family members.

  How It Changes The Main Character (And His Family): Arguably, these scenes are more important for Petunia and Dudley than Harry. For book readers, the final moments with the Dursleys will be familiar. But moviegoers merely got a glimpse of Harry's tormentors before they left the series forever.

  In the two scenes, we hear Petunia speak fondly of her sister for the first time, proving that she was affected by the loss. We then have Vernon prove he hasn't changed at all before Dudley says a good-bye to Harry and gives him the closest thing to a compliment Harry has ever received from a Dursley. These moments provide Harry with a little closure, but they also prove that two out of the three Dursleys are at least a little human.

  Deleted Scene: As he departs his office, Seth passes by Harry, the investor that he's screwed over, who is shown to be armed. 

  How It Changes The Main Character: The original ending of the film involved Seth's bilked investor coming to the office and raining fire down on everyone. This would have ended things on a much darker note and shown just how nefarious Seth's actions were.
