  (#6) Nnoitra Gilga

  Nnoitra Gilga might not be the strongest member of the Espada, but he was certainly the loudest in terms of personality. He was cold, cruel, sadistic, sexist, and bloodthirsty. In terms of skills, Nnoitra was strong enough to go up against someone as legendary as Kenpachi Zaraki. One reason why he lasted as long as he did against Kenpachi was because of his near-indestructible skin; the best out of everyone in Espada. After activating his Resurrección, Nnoitra takes on a form that resembles a praying mantis, as he grows an extra set of hands with large scythe-like weapons in each hand. Nnoitra’s loud personality, however, got the best of him. Particularly his inferiority complex that kicked in during his losing match with Kenpachi.

  (#1) Ulquiorra

  Even though Ulquiorra Cifer was only rank 4 in Aizen’s army of Arrancar, he clearly had more power than he was willing to reveal. Like most of the Espada, Ulquiorra was fast, strong, durable, and skilled with a sword. What made the Espada envious of him was his incredible regeneration ability. No matter how serious an injury, Ulquiorra was able to fully repair himself in seconds (as long as it wasn’t his brain or internal organs, of course).

  Furthermore, Ulquiorra was the only member of the Espada that had two Resurrección forms. Both forms greatly enhanced Ulquiorra’s strengths and abilities, while making him appear as a winged demon. His second Resurrección allowed him to install an intense sense of despair in his enemies. Because of his cold and calculated demeanor, Ulquiorra could keep a level head and get an accurate read of the situation.

  (#8) Yammy

  Theoretically, Yammy Llargo had the potential to become the strongest member of the Espada. By being a lazy slob, Yammy was able to conserve and grow his Reiryoku to magnificent levels. After activating his Resurrección, the reserved energy Yammy earned through sleeping and eating was enough to jump his level from rank 10 to rank 0. In his released form, Yammy basically becomes the Hulk, as his rising anger increases his strength and transforms his body into a Godzilla-like monster. On top of that, Yammy was a ferocious brawler who could absorb souls for power. However, Yammy’s reckless and impulsive attitude made him easy to outwit in battle.

  (#10) Zommari Leroux

  Distinguishing himself from his brash and apathetic colleagues, Zommari Rureaux was a calm and collected member of the Espada. His zen-like attitude was reflected in his Resurrección, as it covered his body with 50 awakened spiritual eyes. The eyes weren’t just there for looks, as they were able to control anything in their sight. This meant Zommari could manipulate anything object for battle, or cause self-harm through his opponent by possessing their limbs. As impressive as Zommari’s talent was, his overzealous attitude led to his downfall in his battle against Byakuya Kuchiki.

  (#3) Baraggan Louisenbairn

  As the former God-king of Hueco Mundo, Baraggan Louisenbairn thought very highly of himself in life. Sure, Baraggan’s elderly appearance may give off a sense of frailty, but as Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto has shown, looks can be deceiving. Baraggan was extremely strong, fast, and durable. What set him apart from other members of the Espada, however, was his ability to accelerate the time of any object or living thing he touched. 

  Soi Fon experienced this first hand, literally, as she had to amputate her left arm after Baraggan infected it. If she didn’t cut it off, her entire body would have rotted away. It’s why Baraggan was the representation of the Aspect of Death. Despite his deadly touch, Baraggan was just as vulnerable to the acceleration of time as everyone else. Baraggan’s arrogance and pride often got in the way, such as his humiliating initial battle with Sōsuke Aizen that ended with him being dethroned.

  (#9) Aaroniero Arruruerie

  Based solely on the two bloody demon heads he had, Aaroniero Arruruerie was an intimidating opponent to go up against in battle. However, thanks to his shape-shifting ability, Aaroniero was an emotionally manipulative opponent too. He used the past guilt of Rukia Kuchiki to make her think she was fighting her former mentor. The ruse was thwarted after Rukia exposed Aaroniero to the sunlight. Without his shape-shifting advantage, Aaroniero was still a hard one to beat, due to being able to summon the abilities of Hollows he devoured in the past.
