(#7) He Bristled When He Found His Son Playing With A Doll
From the start of the series, it is implied that Ross has a chip on his shoulder about homosexuality because his wife divorced him after realizing that she’s a lesbian. The show is also largely set in the '90s, when homophobia ran rampant and unchecked, and was often used as a punchline.
If you had hoped that an academic like Ross who lives in New York City might be a little more open-minded, then you will certainly be disappointed. When Ross finds his son Ben playing with a doll, he exclaims, “Why is my boy playing with a Barbie?”
Sure, times were different, but it’s a disappointing stain on the Ross character that will make you cringe when you watch the show now. Luckily, Monica swoops in and reveals that, when he was younger, Ross used to dress up as a woman and asked his family to call him “Bea.”

(#3) He Shamed Rachel For Continuing To Lead A Life After Becoming A Mom
Rachel and Ross have a one-night stand that results in Rachel getting pregnant with their daughter Emma, and afterward Rachel must balance pregnancy, childbirth, motherhood, and maternity leave alongside Ross’s childish reactions.
After her colleague Gavin helps watch Emma and takes her on a date, Rachel has a hot kiss with him on the balcony. But of course, Ross can’t let Rachel have that without staring at them awkwardly through the window. Instead of telling Rachel he is happy that she is taking time for herself while parenting a small child, Ross shames her for giving her number to any men - and actually admits to blocking her from interested suitors.
It’s understandable that Ross might feel jealous seeing Rachel smooch other guys, but to actively meddle in her dating life is a major overreach.

(#6) He Followed Elizabeth To Florida To Stop Her From Talking To Other Guys
When it comes to women, Ross very quickly vacillates from indifference to wild jealousy. In Season 6, he dates a 20-year-old college girl who is also his former student. In “The One With Joey’s Fridge,” Ross wrongly assumes that Elizabeth wants to go on vacation with him and he’s not happy about it. He’s enjoying his role as the older man so much that he assumes Elizabeth is madly in love with him and must be pursuing a serious relationship.
When Elizabeth tells him she’s actually going on spring break with her friends, Ross is initially relieved. But when he realizes that she will be partying with college guys, he immediately loses his overconfidence. Even though he claims he doesn’t want to be in a relationship, Ross behaves like a controlling boyfriend and disapproves of her revealing bathing suit. Then, he actually shows up uninvited to spring break and is seen on MTV dancing like a loser next to her. Elizabeth did not ask for this.

(#1) He Tried To Kiss His Cousin
In one of his most appalling moves ever, Ross actually makes a pass at his cousin Cassie while she’s staying at his apartment. From the second she shows up, Ross can’t stop staring at her and acting super creepy around her.
Ross gets away with it because, well, he’s Ross, but it brings to mind the days of male predators who got away with it because - as they claimed - they simply couldn’t control themselves around beautiful women. It’s also implied that Ross’s behavior is an understandable response because Cassie is played by Denise Richards.
While they’re watching a movie, Ross actually tries to kiss Cassie. (Spoiler: She does not want that.) This is offensive not only because Ross is physically inappropriate with a family member, but also because he's actually convinced his cousin wants to sleep with him.

(#9) He Made Joey And Chandler Help Pay For His Dehumidifier
As Ross is going through his divorce with Emily, his friends really are there for him when Joey and Chandler let him move in. But of course, Ross is a nightmare of a roommate.
He leaves boxes everywhere, tapes over their answering machine greeting, and uses obnoxious gestures to ask them to keep the noise down. But perhaps worst of all, he actually expects Joey and Chandler to chip in on new air filters for his dehumidifier. Even though he has the best job of all of them, Ross really is that cheap.
“The One Where Ross Moves In” really highlights how self-centered and uncooperative Ross can be. Joey and Chandler can only take so much of it before they finally ask Ross to move out.

(#12) He Got Irrationally Angry When Phoebe Said She Didn’t Believe In Evolution
In Season 2, Phoebe mentions that she doesn’t believe in evolution, and this infuriates Ross. On an intellectual level, his response is initially understandable. After all, Ross is a passionate paleontologist. But what’s so absurd is how personally Ross takes this, as though it’s the first wacky thing Phoebe has ever said.
After providing incredibly detailed answers to all of her questions, Ross shows up with a briefcase of fossils to further prove his point. As her friend, Ross should already know that Phoebe is going to believe whatever theory she’s going to believe, but it still drives him insane that he can’t convince her with science.
