  • Lindemann Claims That Putin Used Him As Propaganda on Random Crazy Stories Of Rammstein, That Band Every Dude In High School Loved

(#7) Lindemann Claims That Putin Used Him As Propaganda

In June 2016, Rammstein performed in Moscow. During the tour, Russian promoters came up to Till Lindemann and thrust an iPhone into his hands. The phone had the Russian President's face flashing on the screen while saying that it was a gift "with greetings from Vladimir Putin!" When Lindemann was asked how he liked Moscow, he gave a thumbs up, and said that it was an excellent city.

That's Lindemann's version of the story, but the Russian media tells it a little differently. Lindemann's t-shirt was digitally altered to display Putin's face, and he was reported to have made the following remarks about Putin:

“[German Chancellor] Angela Merkel cannot boast of having such popularity as Putin [...] I like him. He is a hard leader, not a puppet, unlike many.

"All these political attacks on your country are unfair, I think. Russia defends its interests, and sanctions should be subjected to those who lead a dishonest game and provoke international conflict."

Lindemann claims that he said no such thing, and that he was a victim of Russian propaganda. He has since contacted a lawyer and plans to file a lawsuit.

    (#5) Lindemann Appeared In A Children's Movie

  • Rammstein Likes Coldplay (And Coldplay Likes Them Back) on Random Crazy Stories Of Rammstein, That Band Every Dude In High School Loved

(#12) Rammstein Likes Coldplay (And Coldplay Likes Them Back)

If you had to guess what kind of music the members of Rammstein listened to, you would probably guess that they would stay in genre, maybe some Marilyn Manson or Slipknot. While those artists aren't off the table, the members of Rammstein's taste goes a little further afield. A few of them claim to listen to Coldplay, and so do Lindemann's kids, which he claims is a punishment for writing a song about how they should have been aborted. So, mixed feelings about Coldplay there.

Actually, Chris Martin of Coldplay is apparently a Rammstein fan too, he even covered their song "Amerika."

  • (#1) Landers And Kruspe Kissed Onstage To Show Support For LGBTQ+ Rights

In July 2019, at a concert in Moscow, Russia, guitarists Paul Landers and Richard Kruspe shared a kiss onstage while playing their song "Ausländer." The moment was in direct protest of Russia's anti-LGBTQ+ laws, one of which was passed by Vladimir Putin in 2013.

The law condemns any materials that "[present] distorted ideas about the equal social value of traditional and non-traditional sexual relationships." Violators of the law may be taken into custody and detained, though Landers and Kruspe have not suffered any reported consequences for their show of LGBTQ+ support.

  • They Were Accused Of Being A Nazi Band on Random Crazy Stories Of Rammstein, That Band Every Dude In High School Loved

(#13) They Were Accused Of Being A Nazi Band

Because they're a German band with an aggressive style, many people mistakenly believe that Rammstein embraces extreme right-wing ideologies.

The band is adamant that they do not support such beliefs, but suspicions were elevated after Rammstein used clips from a film made by suspected sympathizer Leni Riefenstahl in one of their videos.

However, Lindemann realized working with Riefenstahl might be a step in the wrong direction, and that he would have to pay more attention to who and what he associated his work.

  • Lindemann Faked Being On Fire During Over 20 Concerts on Random Crazy Stories Of Rammstein, That Band Every Dude In High School Loved

(#4) Lindemann Faked Being On Fire During Over 20 Concerts

Rammstein uses a lot of pyrotechnics in their performances, so accidentally setting band members on fire isn't exactly implausible. In fact, Till Lindemann actually did scorch his leg during one performance. After that, he started wearing fireproof clothing, but he pretended otherwise on at least 20 occasions. In an interview with Playboy he said:

"One time the fans really thought I was burning: we made up a scene like I was having an accident and my leg was burning. Flake came with a fire extinguisher, but it contained a flammable powder. I was in flame, the music ended, the lights in the room went on. I rolled on the stage and assistants came with real fire extinguishers. We did that on 20 shows, but had to stop, because fans considered it to be too much and complained in the Internet. They were really shocked."
