  The 2018 version of Gegege no Kitarou is actually a remake of a 1968 anime with the same name. It follows a yokai boy named Kitarou who seeks peace between humans and yokai, with the help of his father, who is a talking eyeball. Not only does it introduce villains to the mythology surrounding yokai, the series also offers some pretty deep commentary on Japanese society. But because it's a shonen, there's plenty of action and comedy to go along with it.

Thus begins the unusual and uneasy partnership between a powerful yokai and a reluctant human.
