(#10) Peggy Bundy
- Married... with Children
Al Bundy is the poster boy for bad husbands. He’s disrespectful and a complete jerk. At one point, he starts an anti-feminist group called No Ma’am. He clearly doesn’t care one bit about Peggy’s needs. And while she’s not the best wife in the world, at least she wouldn’t have to endure his crass comments all the time if they’d get a divorce.
-
(#14) Penny
- The Big Bang Theory
Look, to say that Penny and Leonard’s relationship is dysfunctional would be an understatement. He’s jealous, bitter, and has mommy issues. They would never work together in real life because, well, they have nothing in common. They get married only because Leonard pursues Penny relentlessly.
Once they tie the knot, things don’t get any better. When Raj moves in, Penny ends up spending more time with him than with Leonard. She doesn’t seem happy. In reality, she would have left her husband by now. And if she plans on living her best life, she needs to get those divorce papers out soon.
-
(#9) Debra Barone
- Everybody Loves Raymond
Raymond’s big flaw is that family values aren’t high on his list of priorities. He focuses on work and golf more than on helping with the kids, which causes a strain on his marriage with Debra. No wonder she’s always in a bad mood, which is mostly played for laughs. In real life, she would have probably asked for a divorce quite early in the series.

(#13) Jill Taylor
The main problem with Tim? He is crude and selfish. He never admits he’s wrong and prevents his wife from having an actual, fulfilling career. Even worse, he only does the right thing when his faceless neighbor convinces him he needs to cut Jill some slack if he wants to stay married. Jill, sweetie, you would be better off alone.
-
(#2) Marge Simpson
- The Simpsons
Seeing Marge get frustrated with Homer’s many annoying habits can be amusing, but it certainly doesn’t win him any husband of the year awards. He often puts the entire family in danger, which is not a solid foundation for a long-lasting marriage. Remember when he buys a gun and proceeds to carry it everywhere, in spite of Marge’s pleas to get rid of the weapon?
Or when he gets into an accident while driving drunk and makes it look like his wife was behind the wheel? Yeah, Marge can definitely do better.
-
(#7) Carmela Soprano
- The Sopranos
Carmela is a strong woman, so her decision to put up with Tony in the long run is baffling. He’s a ruthless mobster who doesn’t shy away from cheating or, you know, murder. While his money provides a comfortable lifestyle for Carmela, the emotional damage she suffers at his hands would push any sane woman to file for a divorce.
