About This Tool

Unemployed persons are defined as those who do not currently work but are willing to work and actively seek work. Every year there are many people in the world who lose their jobs for one reason or another. The higher the unemployment rate in a country, the heavier the burden on the country, and the higher the unemployment insurance that needs to be borne. So in order to achieve steady development, the country must make vigorous efforts to promote employment, reduce the unemployment rate and provide more job opportunities.

The OECD has compiled a list of 36 OECD countries according to long-term unemployment rates. The random tool compared long term unemployment rates in these countries in 2012 with long term unemployment rates in 2016, and found Australia to be number one. So it’s not the employment rate in the developing world that’s worrying. It’s the high unemployment rate in parts of the developed world that’s putting a burden on governments. If you’re curious about the unemployment rate in several other countries, the generator has been compiled in detail for those who are interested.

Click the "Display All Items" button and you will get a list of OECD countries by long-term unemployment rate.
