About This Tool

Manipur is a state in northeast India. The state, which was once part of Assam, was founded in 1972 and borders Myanmar to the east, Assam to the West, Mizoram to the South and Nagaland to the north. In the Meitei language, the state’s name (Manipur) means “Pearl City” . Nehru called it the jewel of the seal. Manipur became independent from British occupation on August 11,1947, and on September 21,1949, Manipur’s King Bagjachandra was forced to incorporate Manipur into India.
