Mali became independent in 1960 and the national film Production Centre (CNCP) was established in 1961 to produce films. In 1963 a Newsreel crew was formed to produce the weekly news. The import, export, and distribution of films are the responsibility of the National Film Authority of Mali. The main feature films shot in Mali Are D. Guillaume’s return (1971); CISSAY’s life in five days (1972) and daughter (1974); Couribani’s fate (1977); Travolta's we are all sinners (1980); Seeger's the prisoner (1980); k. GINDA’s it’s all over (1980). Documentaries are mainly “this is Mali”, “Mali’s past and present”, “Gbagbo”.
