As far back as the late 19th century, the California League had a history of teams called Los Angeles Angels, and by 1903 in Anno Domini, the Los Angeles Angels and several other teams formed the Pacific Coast League, which is dominated by west coast cities. In addition to the angels, the 1903 Pacific Coast League included the Portland Beavers, Auckland Oaks, Sacramento Solons, San Francisco Seals, and the Seattle Indians. Between 1903 and 1925, the Angels’ Home Stadium Was Washington Park on Downtown Los Angeles, Hill Street, and 8th Street, with a seating capacity of 15,000. The Angels won seven League titles in that time, and in the 1918 season, though only the second-place team, they defeated their longtime Los Angeles-area rival, the Vernon Tigers, to clinch the title.
