  • (#1) Tyga's Tiger

Owning a tiger is is tough business. Just ask Tyga, who probably thought Tyga's Tiger would look cool in the headlines or on a tattoo.

But according to TMZ, Tyga kept the seven-month-old cat at his Ventura County, CA, home, where he reportedly "took good care" of it. Unfortunately it's illegal to keep a tiger in one's home without the proper permitting and facilities, and Tyga was busted after posting photos of the giant feline to Instagram.

Fish and Wildlife authorities swooped in and moved the tiger to a state facility, and sought to charge Tyga with a misdemeanor and a possible six-month jail stint. The tiger is currently living in a non-profit rescue center but has not received a word – or a donation – from Tyga.

  • Mike Tyson’s Pigeons And Tigers on Random Celebrities With Totally Strange (And Possibly Illegal) Pets

(#8) Mike Tyson’s Pigeons And Tigers

Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was an amazing boxer, albeit one who is probably best known as the boxer who bit off a chunk of Evander Holyfield's ear. Tyson's love of pigeons dates back to his days as a kid in Brooklyn, and the fighter has said that that the hobby inspired his boxing career.

It happened when bullies confronted a young Tyson, grabbed his pigeon, and savagely twisted off its head. "That was the first time I threw a punch," Tyson said.

"My pigeons have gone on an amazing journey with me from a child to a man," Tyson said to the New York Times. "They’ve been with me when I didn’t have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. They were also there when I had more money than I could even count. But rich or poor never meant anything when it came to my birds."

In 2011, Tyson appeared on Taking On Tyson, an Animal Planet show that featured the former champ in the world of competitive pigeon racing.

At the height of his career, Tyson also owned several white tigers, as memorialized by a fictional tiger in The Hangover. Tyson claimed the big cats were expensive to keep up, so he had to give them away.

    (#4) Nicolas Cage’s Octopus

There was a time when Nicolas Cage was worth $150 million. He allegedly squandered a lot of that away, and is now worth "only" about $25 million.

One of his purchases was the $150,000 bill for a pet octopus which he said "helped him be a better actor."

Cage has a history of outlandish purchases including a shark, an alligator, shrunken heads, an illegal Mongolian dinosaur skull, 15 estate homes around the world, two European castles, and a pyramid tombstone.

  • Chris Brown's Monkey on Random Celebrities With Totally Strange (And Possibly Illegal) Pets

    (#3) Chris Brown's Monkey

A post shared by CHRIS BROWN (@chrisbrownofficial) on

This 2017 video on Instagram of Chris Brown's daughter cuddling with a capuchin monkey got the singer in trouble. Fans freaked out and thought it was a gift for his daughter, which triggered a Fish and Wildlife department investigation.

It was determined that Brown failed to secure a permit for the primate, so agents served a warrant at Brown's house, and confiscated the monkey. Brown, as you can imagine, was not pleased — and neither was his attorney.

In the end, a Los Angeles judge ordered Brown to give up all rights to the monkey. According to the ruling, Brown must pay $35,000 to the facility where the monkey is being cared for, and cannot visit it without making an appointment. Further, Brown is prohibited from owning other species of monkeys, must submit to searches to prove it, and cannot break any law from December 2019 through June 2020.

If Brown abides by these restrictions, he will be forgiven the two misdemeanors for illegal possession of a monkey without a permit.

  • Leonardo DiCaprio’s Tortoise on Random Celebrities With Totally Strange (And Possibly Illegal) Pets

    (#14) Leonardo DiCaprio’s Tortoise

Given the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio seemingly can't commit to a woman for more than a few months, it's kind of a surprise that he selected a pet with a life expectancy of around 80 years. The tortoise, which DiCaprio allegedly picked up the North American Reptile Breeders Conference And Trade Show, only cost about $400 and can grow up to about 200 pounds.
