An Earl of Sandwich named John Montagu, an avid The Card Players in the small town of Sandwich in southeastern England, became obsessed with playing card games until he couldn’t eat or sleep. It was difficult for the servant to serve him, so he put some dishes, eggs, and sausages between two slices of bread, and let him eat while he played cards. When Montagu saw it, he called it “Sandwich”, and when he was hungry, he shouted, “Sandwich! ” Other gamblers followed suit, eating a sandwich at cards. Sandwich soon spread throughout the British Isles, Europe, and later the United States.
